Model Replication Institution (MRI) Program
Managed by the Institute for Higher Education, the MRI program seeks to increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) graduates at minority-serving institutions (MSIs). The MRI program is designed to build upon the eleven-year success, 1995-2006, of the Model Institutions for Excellence (MIE) program, a previous initiative also funded by NSF. The MRI program communicates the lessons learned from this original program to a new cadre of nine minority serving colleges and universities, in the following key areas: pre-college activities (i.e., recruitment and transition initiatives), student support, undergraduate research, faculty development, curriculum development, physical infrastructure development, and STEM graduate school and career initiatives.
